Question 1

What is QuoteHound?

Accepted Answer

QuoteHound is an Australian-owned, fully automated new car quote comparison service. We take the haggle out of hunting for quotes by connecting you with competing dealerships who bid to win your business.

You already know what car you want - we help you get the best deal on it.

Question 2

How is QuoteHound different from car brokers?

Accepted Answer

We're not a broker. Brokers typically work with a small network of "preferred dealers" or earn commissions that can influence which quote they recommend.

QuoteHound is different:
- **Fully automated** - No middlemen, no sales calls from us, no pressure
- **No preferred dealers** - We don't play favourites. Every dealer in our network competes equally
- **Transparent process** - Dealers can't see each other's bids, so they're motivated to offer their best price upfront
- **Independent** - We're a small Australian business, not owned by a dealership group or automotive conglomerate

Question 3

How is QuoteHound different from other car buying sites?

Accepted Answer

Unlike advertising sites that make you scroll through pages of similar vehicles, QuoteHound focuses on getting you the best price for the exact car you want.

We don't list every dealership in Australia - we've partnered with major dealers for the makes we support who can deliver competitive pricing. Quality over quantity.

Question 4

Is QuoteHound free to use?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Our free tier allows you to have up to 2 active quotes and submit up to 5 quote requests per month - perfect for most car buyers.

Need more? You can purchase quote packs from your profile page to increase your limits. There's no obligation to accept any quote you receive.

Question 5

How does the quoting process work?

Accepted Answer

1. **Submit your request** - Tell us the make, model, variant, and colour you want
2. **We notify dealers** - Your request goes to dealerships in your state (based on your postcode)
3. **Dealers compete** - Dealerships submit their best drive-away prices. They can't see each other's bids
4. **We find your best quote** - We analyse the responses and present you with the best option
5. **You decide** - Accept the quote to connect with the winning dealer, or walk away with no obligation

The entire process happens in real time, and we encourage dealers to respond quickly.

Question 6

How do you determine the "best" quote?

Accepted Answer

We don't just look at the lowest price. Our algorithm considers both price and delivery timeframe to find the quote that offers the best overall value.

For example:
- Quote A: $30,000 - Available now
- Quote B: $29,500 - Available in 4-6 weeks

In this case, we might recommend Quote A because the convenience of immediate availability outweighs the $500 saving - especially when you factor in the cost of being without a car or extending a lease.

We believe time has value, and our system reflects that.

Question 7

Which dealerships receive my quote request?

Accepted Answer

Quote requests are sent to dealerships in your state based on your postcode. For example, if your postcode is 3000 (Melbourne), your request goes to our Victorian dealer partners for that make.

We work with major authorised dealerships who can offer competitive pricing on new vehicles. We don't have every dealer - just the ones that can deliver genuine value.

Question 8

Can I request quotes from interstate dealerships?

Accepted Answer

Yes! When submitting a quote request, you can change your postcode to receive quotes from dealerships in a different state. For example, entering a Sydney postcode will send your request to our NSW dealer partners.

Keep in mind that if you accept a quote from an interstate dealer, you'll be responsible for arranging and paying for vehicle freight or collection. QuoteHound connects you with the winning dealer - the logistics of getting the car to you are between you and the dealership.

Question 9

How quickly will I receive quotes?

Accepted Answer

Most dealers respond within a few hours during business hours. We set deadlines to ensure you receive timely responses, and our system encourages dealers to quote quickly.

You'll receive an email notification when your quotes are ready to review.

Question 10

How is my privacy protected?

Accepted Answer

Your privacy is paramount. Here's how we protect it:

- **Anonymous requests** - Dealerships receive your quote request without your name, email, or phone number
- **You control disclosure** - Your contact details are only shared with the winning dealership when YOU choose to accept a quote
- **No data selling** - We never sell your personal information to third parties
- **No spam** - We only contact you about your quote requests. No marketing emails, no sales calls

Question 11

When do dealers get my contact details?

Accepted Answer

Only when you accept a winning quote. Until that moment, dealers only know the vehicle specifications and your general location (state/region).

Once you accept, the winning dealership receives your name and contact details so they can arrange the purchase.

Question 12

What happens to my information if I don't accept a quote?

Accepted Answer

If you don't accept any quote, your contact details are never shared with dealerships. Your quote request data is retained for service improvement purposes only, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Question 13

What's included in the quoted price?

Accepted Answer

All quotes are **drive-away prices**, which include:
- Vehicle price
- GST
- Stamp duty
- Registration
- CTP insurance (where applicable)
- Dealer delivery charges

The price you see is the price you pay - no hidden extras.

Question 14

Are government fees (stamp duty, rego) accurate?

Accepted Answer

Dealerships provide the drive-away price which includes all government fees. We don't calculate these ourselves - the quoted price comes directly from the dealer and should be accurate.

The dealership will confirm exact charges when you proceed with the purchase.

Question 15

Am I buying a car through QuoteHound?

Accepted Answer

No. QuoteHound is a quote comparison service, not a car dealership.

When you accept a quote, we connect you directly with the winning dealership. The purchase agreement, payment, and delivery are arranged between you and the dealer.

We simply help you find the best deal - you complete the transaction directly with the dealership.

Question 16

What happens after I accept a quote?

Accepted Answer

1. We send your contact details to the winning dealership
2. You receive an email with the dealer's contact information and a summary of your quote
3. The dealership contacts you to arrange the purchase
4. You finalise the deal directly with the dealer

Question 17

Is the quoted price locked in?

Accepted Answer

Once you view your winning quote, you have 24 hours to accept it before the offer expires. If you don't accept in time, you'll need to submit a new quote request.

The quoted price reflects the dealer's offer at the time of quoting. While dealers generally honour their quotes, prices may be subject to manufacturer price changes or stock availability.

Question 18

What about my trade-in?

Accepted Answer

QuoteHound focuses on getting you the best price on your new car. Trade-in valuations are handled separately with the dealership.

**Pro tip:** Knowing your new car price upfront gives you leverage when negotiating your trade-in. The dealer can't hide discounts by adjusting trade-in values - the new car price is already locked in.

You can also choose to sell your existing vehicle privately through platforms like Carsales, Facebook Marketplace, or auction houses if you believe you'll get a better price than the dealer's trade-in offer.

Question 19

What makes and models can I get quotes for?

Accepted Answer

QuoteHound supports quotes for most major vehicle makes sold in Australia. Our coverage depends on which dealerships we've partnered with in your state.

If a make or model isn't available in our system, it means we don't currently have dealer partners who can quote on that vehicle in your area.

Question 20

Can I specify accessories or options?

Accepted Answer

Yes. When submitting your quote request, you can specify the exact variant, colour, and any factory-fitted options you want. Dealers will quote on that specific configuration.

Question 21

What if I'm not sure which variant I want?

Accepted Answer

We recommend researching your preferred vehicle before submitting a request. Manufacturer websites, automotive review sites, and visiting a showroom can help you decide on the right variant.

QuoteHound works best when you know exactly what you want - we'll find you the best price on it.

Question 22

I didn't receive my verification email

Accepted Answer

Check your spam/junk folder first. If you still can't find it, you can request a new verification email from your dashboard or contact us.

Question 23

I'm having trouble submitting a quote request

Accepted Answer

Make sure you've:
- Verified your email address
- Completed all required fields
- Selected a valid make, model, and variant

If issues persist, try a different browser or clear your cache.
